Finally a mention on the cleaning/polishing of whistles. Personally I do not polish very many whistles, admittedly they do look very nice when polished back to their original condition but to my eye the coloration some whistles acquire after years and years, known as "patina" (film formed on exposed metals, etc., especially green film on copper or bronze; any such sign of mellowing or old age), is very pleasing to the eye and they are best left in this state. I do occasionally clean, degrease or degunge a whistle using white spirit but rarely polish one unless it is in very poor condition. PEEK polishing paste is recommended, but then the choice remains yours :o)
